Today Acano announced General Availability of the Acano Solution, which unites previously incompatible audio, video and web technologies in virtual team rooms called ”coSpaces.” coSpaces make teamwork and the exchange of ideas second nature for everyone.
Today’s employees are becoming more mobile and the number of communication options is growing. Yet most people are still required to conform to one communication technology and exclude key people from discussions, impacting the pace of innovation and people’s ability to join the conversation.
With Acano coSpaces everyone matters. People join coSpaces using a phone, a tablet, a computer, a video system, or a Lync client whenever ideas spark. With one user experience across all devices, the technology fades into the background:
coSpaces are unlimited and self-service. Create a new coSpace for every project, account or fantasy sports league.
Because coSpaces are ”persistent,” leave notes such as an agenda or action item on a wall for all members to see at any time.
”I can carry my meeting with me.” Switch between devices while on a call, like a video system to an iPad.
Call from a Microsoft Lync client to video and telepresence systems, sharing content, sending messages and seeing presence.
Invite outsiders with an email. Enabled by WebRTC and Flash, this opens up B-to-B and B-to-C opportunities, such as patient coSpaces for specialist consultations.
Acano has over 25 trials in place and started shipping Acano Servers. The installed base of Acano Servers can support 50,000 coSpace users. The organizations currently using Acano have the potential for over one million users.
A Fortune 100 global telecom company with 90,000 Microsoft Lync clients began Acano trials in May. The company confirms, “Employees will be able to enter coSpaces and use audio, web, video, Lync, and tablets on a massive scale, this gives teams the freedom to choose how they communicate.”
Acano has signed agreements globally with carefully selected value-added resellers and service provider partners, including IVCi, NexTech Solutions, Office Management, SKC, Talk&Vision, Technology Specialists Inc., Video Guidance, VideoNor, VisionPoint, and Yorktel.
The Acano partner network will resell the solution for on-premises deployment and offer it as a hosted or managed network service to a range of customers, from large organizations to SMBs.
“The future of collaboration is true ubiquity across the entire enterprise… Acano’s coSpaces have changed the game and we are excited to be bringing their offering to market. “
Bob Swing, CEO, IVCi
“Yorktel recognizes that clients are accepting of and shifting to multiple deliverable service platforms, and Acano’s offerings meet this market trend.”

“With the Acano offering we can continue to deliver on our promise of bringing cutting edge technology to the market and our customers.”
Øyvind Reed, CEO, Videonor
“Government agencies are demanding better communication solutions to meet the needs of the toughest field environments and the most distributed and mobile workforces. Acano meets these needs head on.”
Dan Kunkel, President, NexTech Solutions
“Our partnership with Acano enables us to broaden our services portfolio to include an enterprise solution that is cost effective and uniquely solves customers’ problems.”
Lee White, President, Technology Specialists, Inc.
“While at first glance this may seem like just high quality, highly interoperable video bridging in another form, the addition of persistent chat and the ability to create and jump between meeting spaces on the fly changes the entire discussion.”
Ira M. Weinstein, Senior Analyst and Partner, Wainhouse Research
“The Acano team is focused on one experience across phone, tablet and PC that is manifested in coSpaces. The market is ready for this new way of communicating, and we expect to see coSpaces – always available and unlimited virtual meeting rooms – resonate with end user organizations from large to small.”
Rob Arnold, Industry Principal and Program Manager, Frost & Sullivan
General Availability (GA)
Acano is now shipping the optimized Acano Server. Based on an Intel X86 platform, it provides 5x the scale and performance of a typical solution. A virtualized solution will be available later this year for small to mid-sized and distributed deployments in a standard server environment.
“We’ve seen an extraordinary response leading up to General Availability,” said OJ Winge, CEO of Acano. “We’re enthusiastic about the quality of partners working with us, and believe that together we will make a world-changing difference to our customers and their ability to grow and innovate.” Read more from Acano’s CEO.
